I love finding interesting Instagram accounts. I believe Instagram can be used as a platform for art. I wish that Instagram had been around when I was in college because I would have surely incorporated it into my art history/visual arts thesis. A beautiful Instagram account I discovered on popsugar.com is @groehrs by Gretchen Roehrs. Gretchen's account features chic sketches accentuated by fruits and vegetables. This unique combination makes for a gorgeous composition.

Instagram is bringing museum quality art to the masses and I love it!

Outfit Sets

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Left to Right: Kate Spade, Aritzia, Banana Republic, Banana Republic

Outfit sets are incredibly chic.

I have always shied away from wearing a full outfit from one designer. However, I went against my own rule when I tried on the Kate Spade set, featured above. It was love at first sight and started me on the path of addiction. One thing led to another and now I own four outfit sets - coincidentally all in black and white. My favorite thing about the outfit set is that the pieces can be worn together, or separately, so you're essentially adding a whole slew of options to your closet.

I think I've satisfied my outfit set craving for now, but who knows what the future may hold.

Everytime I've bought a pair of shoes with wooden soles I've found them uncomfortable. This put me in quite the conundrum when I wanted a pair of clogs for the summer. I've often read about how comfortable Dansko clogs are and I recognized them as work shoes for people who stand a lot in their job. I was happy to find that Dansko made a very stylish pair of clogs, the Madison

These clogs are heavenly

They are so comfortable that it's like walking on a cloud

I purchased the Madison in brown and could easily wear them everyday. I have the black pair on my Shopstyle wish-list. Each day I refresh the list to see when the black clogs will go on sale so I can purchase a second pair!

The Light Between the Oceans

Thursday, June 18, 2015

After dabbling in the non-fiction world, I was all too happy to read fiction again. I came across The Light Between the Oceans and was intrigued by the descriptions I read online.

The book drew me in from the first page.

I was very attached to the characters - particularly Isabel, one of the protagonists of the novel. Tom Sherbourne, Isabel's husband, is a lighthouse keeper in Australia. Isabel lives with Tom on the island of Janus - they try to have children but have multiple miscarriages. Everything changes when a boat washes ashore with a dead man and a newborn infant.

I couldn't put this book down. One night when the BF was out I spent a full night reading and finished the book. By the end of the novel I was sobbing. It was really beautiful, particularly the relationship between Tom and Isabel. They loved each other no matter what their faults.

I hear there is a movie in the works for The Light Between the Oceans. I'm looking forward to seeing it, though I'm not sure how it could possibly be better than the book.

Sonnet James

Monday, June 15, 2015

My mom and I were recently talking about boutiques and how they have nearly disappeared in NYC. It's such a shame to see those stores close because independent designers often have  more unique items than name-brand stores. I am a huge fan of the blog Love Taza and I noticed that Naomi had been wearing some killer dresses. I was pleased to discover that those dresses came from an independent designer, Sonnet James

Everything about Sonnet James is adorable - their Instagram account and, in particular, their lookbook. I recently purchased my first Sonnet James dress (the one pictured directly above) and it is so comfortable! When I tried on the dress, the BF's eyes lit up

I'm now on the way to becoming a Sonnet James devotee
