Taylor Diggs Designs

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

I have two favorite Etsy shops - La Joli Bijou (which I posted about previously) and Taylor Diggs Designs.

Honestly, I think Taylor's pieces speak for themselves - they're stunning and unique. I constantly refresh my Etsy feed to follow new additions to her shop. I also watch for updates on Taylor's Instagram page

Basically, I'm a stalker

As it stands now I own two gorgeous pieces from Taylor Diggs Designs and I plan on adding to my collection in the very near future.

Seriously though, have you ever seen a collection of necklaces more perfect than what's featured above?
I don't think so.

We Are Bold

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Dress: c/o Boohoo.com, Belt: Tory Burch, Backpack: Zara, Shoes: Zara

Boohoo.com asked me recently to style a few of their dresses for a campaign they are promoting,  #WeAreUSA. Some of you may recognize Boohoo.com from my previous Audrey Hepburn inspired post. I am a huge fan of Boohoo's product, so I was more than happy to participate in this newest styling adventure.

After reading about the campaign I was even more drawn to the ideals it was promoting, rather than the fashion. Rapper Angel Haze was interviewed to represent the We Are Bold portion (one of four slogans Boohoo created). When asked what We Are Bold means to her she stated that it was about how she is "not like society's woman".

I love that idea.

I hate that society tries to put women in a box. Working in an industry that is predominantly male, I often think about women's role in society and the workplace. I like to think of myself as bold in that I don't fit into the traditional mold of what a woman should be. I am outspoken, creative, at times aggressive and certainly not domesticated. My favorite thing about my own style is that it represents my bold and defiant personality.

I don't let anyone tell me what to do and I certainly don't let anyone tell me how to dress. On Thursday you will see another post inspired by the We Are Bold mantra. Women deserve to be bold and outspoken. Thank you Boohoo.com for asking me to participate in such a great and inspiring campaign.

OOTD: I Love Kate Spade

Monday, May 25, 2015

There are some brands I like such as Gap, J. Crew and Old Navy but there are a select few that I love. A recent addition to my "brands I love" list is Kate Spade. My shopping adventures at Kate Spade's Madison Ave store certainly helped add Kate Spade to my list, however, what really won me over is the whimsy in all the brand's items.

A few weeks ago I posted a view from above photo to my Instagram wearing a Kate Spade blouse. That photo received the most likes of any photo I've ever posted! I replicated that same ensemble above. The focal point of the outfit is, of course, the Kate Spade blouse. What's so unique about the top is that the front is a floral print and the back is striped. When I wore the blouse to work a colleague thought I had changed tops because she had originally seen only the striped back and not the floral front.

The other things I like about Kate Spade are the impeccable service and great sales. That means if you like anything at full price it will likely go on sale at Kate Spade's outlet store. The outlet stores are incredibly accommodating and will ship state-wide. If they don't have it at the particular store you call, they'll look for it at another. That's how I recently scored an awesome pair of heart print pants (at more than half the price).

Simply put, I ❤️ Kate Spade!

The Zookeeper's Wife

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Let me begin by saying I had no idea that The Zookeeper's Wife was a non-fiction novel. Had I known that from the on-set, I likely would not have read the book. However, I'm very happy I did not do my research prior to reading because I learned a lot of really interesting things about my favorite time in history - World War 2.

The Zookeeper's Wife describes the real life story of the Zabinksi's - the owners of the Warsaw Zoo during World War 2. We learn of their heroism and bravery in aiding the Jews during that awful time. Jan and Antonina Zabinski use the zoo as a hiding spot for countless refugees during the war. The cages of their zoo become homes for people instead of animals.

This book made me long to visit Poland and learn more about the country's history. I'm usually not a fan of non-fiction because I prefer to read books that have dialogue between characters. The Zookeeper's Wife, however, was incredibly interesting. I was surprised (though I shouldn't have been) that the Nazi's obsession with eugenics extended to animals too. They were constantly trying to get the purest breed.

I'm glad I was able to read this book before Hollywood turns it into a movie - the film is scheduled to hit the big screen in 2016. I hope that I am fortunate enough to travel to Poland sometime soon - I would love to visit the Warsaw Zoo.

Summer with JORD

Monday, May 18, 2015

Watch c/o: JORD
Hampton's Stack (L to R): Alex and Ani, LF Stores, David Yurman, JORD, Vintage, Tiffany & Co., Lucky Brand, Alex and Ani
NYC Stack (L to R): Bourbon and Boweties, Forever 21, JORD, Vintage, Alex and AniTiffany & Co.

In anticipation of the upcoming summer season I wanted to share a new favorite accessory - my JORD watch. The JORD watch's main feature is the wood it's crafted from. I absolutely love the light colored maple that the watch is made of - it goes with everything. Perhaps my favorite feature, however, is the rose gold face. The watch is perfect for summer as the maple band is very breathable - my wrist is never too hot while wearing the watch.

I styled the watch two ways above - one for the Hamptons and one for NYC. I imagine myself wearing the watch with a lot of silver bracelets in the Hamptons for a more vintage inspired look. In my opinion NYC is more playful, so I styled the watch with my hello bracelet and sparkly stone bangle.

While I'm planning to wear the watch for my summer escapades, I know I will also be wearing it for many more seasons to come.
