Books to Read

Sunday, April 6, 2014

I just finished reading my latest book, The Goldfinch, and the next logical step is to decide what I'm going to read next. I created a list of books I'm interested in and I'm going to start reading the first and make my way through all five.

I've already begun The God of Small Things and I'm enjoying it.

The God of Small Things: "Equal parts powerful family saga, forbidden love story, and piercing political drama, it is the story of an affluent Indian family forever changed by one fateful day in 1969". -amazon.com

The Pure Trilogy: "A post-apocalyptic, dystopian thriller and love story, which includes the three titles Pure, Fuse, and Burn". -juliannabaggott.com

The Year of Magical Thinking: "Joan Didion explores an intensely personal yet universal experience: a portrait of a marriage--and a life, in good times and bad--that will speak to anyone who has ever loved a husband or wife or child". -amazon.com

The God of Small Things is one of the books I use in my Senior English class. I think Roy is a brilliant writer. What she does with language and how she structures and develops the plot is amazing. I'd love to know what you think about it when you're done.
