Street Art

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

As much as I'd love to wake up to Brooklyn* scenery like this every morning, I think our apartment search has come to an abrupt end.
*Due to logistical reasons we are unable to look in Brooklyn (bye street art)

On Monday, I'll be meeting with a broker to take one last look at the Upper Westside, but it seems more and more likely that we will be staying in our quaint studio.

This horrible search has really made me appreciate my apartment.
(I even coo at it like a baby).

In the event that we do not move (which seems likely) my mom  and I are planning a huge makeover for our place, including brand new storage and a comfy reading chair.

Life could be worse.

I'm very excited to throw out my Ikea furniture and replace it with some real deal goodies.

Pottery Barn has no idea what's coming their way...

Foundation

Monday, May 27, 2013

I don't know where to start.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's the books I read that are confusing or if I'm just generally confused.

After reading Everything is Illuminated, I wanted to read a sci-fi book to get back to my Game of Thrones roots. A friend of mine recommended the Foundation series so I thought I'd give it a try.

I even went so far as to read the physical book and not use my kindle.

I was not impressed.

I often found myself going through the motions of reading without really digesting anything.

The book is split up into several different short stories that have very little to do with one another. That wouldn't have been a bad thing had the stories themselves been interesting

Also, the book was written in the 40's, so the futuristic aspects of it seemed completely outdated

There are 7 books in the series but I think I'll be stopping at #1.

My quest to find a book that I'm addicted to as much as Game of Thrones is not working well.
I've decided to switch gears a bit and read something completely out of left field.

Fingers crossed!

I Got it From My Mama

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Sweater: J. Jill, Tee: Eileen Fisher, Leggings: J. Jill, Shoes: Nike

How cute is Barbs?

When my Mom came down the stairs in this adorable outfit I felt it was my duty as a blogger to document it.
What better way to honor the woman who birthed me on her own birthday!

Not only is tomorrow Memorial Day but it is also my Mom's 60th

I tell her everyday that she doesn't look a day over 59.

My style is definitely influenced by my Mom.
I dare to wear different things because of her.
I shop at Eileen Fisher because she dubbed it cool.
And I will own these sneakers in a few weeks (when I can afford them) because they're freaking awesome.

Thank you Barbs for the constant inspiration.

And to answer your question Mom, although you are damn old, I think I can still live with you as my Mother.

Love you!

As I get older I seem to be dressing younger
(I'm pretty sure this is an outfit my mom would have put me in as a kid).

I'm fine with being 24 going on 8.

At 8 I knew what was up.
I wore flats and t-shirts

Now?
I'm all over that shiz.

I am a huge fan of the chunky short heel.

Lately I refuse to wear a heel higher than what's pictured above.
My new mantra is, "comfort is happiness".
So far this mentality is really working well for me.

These shoes are awesome because the heel is visible enough that I can tell people, "I wear heels"!
(If you couldn't already tell, I'm a great exaggerator).

Guess where I bought these pumps? (I'm loving this)
Ebay!

They were discounted, new with tag and in their original box.

I work miracles

Good

Monday, May 20, 2013

I brunch.

I brunch a lot
So much so, some might say it's an occupation.

So when I find a good brunch place, you know it's good

You know what else is great?
This place is even named Good.
(I love it).

I think Good had me at the pastry basket.
I'm a sucker for biscuits.

Also great was the goat cheese eggs with asparagus and tomatoes (pictured above).
And obviously I loved the french toast.
(I really didn't even think I had to mention that one).

I will definitely be back.

Dear Beautiful Boy,

Don't

I know what you're thinking.
It's May and I'm layered.
But before you start freaking out, it really hasn't gotten that hot yet.
And as a Floridian, I think you should sympathize, because to you, our Spring is like your Winter.

So there

Wherever you are you're probably hanging out in flip flops and shorts.

I'm afraid of shorts so we'll see if I get around to wearing them this summer.
I bought some men's ones from American Eagle that are nice and long that I think you would like!
They're not so much shorts on me as much as they are capris.

Men's capris I can do.

All the muches.
