Sock it to Me.

Socks From: J. Crew

I've become fond of a great new accessory, the sock
They are perfect layered under boots and cropped pants.

Not surprisingly, J. Crew has an amazing selection. My favorite, and the BF's favorite, are the marled Camp Sock. I often find him using mine when his are in the wash.

Don't be surprised to see some whacky patterns peaking out of my shoes in the near future.

The Magic Soufflé

Thursday, December 26, 2013

In lieu of all the sweets I ate on Christmas day, I wanted to share a unique treat, the Magic Soufflé.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed by this particular Dominique Ansel creation - the brioche outer layer had an odd lemony flavor that I didn't like. However, the soufflé inside was delicious! In my opinion, the snack would be better if the soufflé stood on it's own.

I look forward to trying what Dominique invents next.

Happy Christmas

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

Christmas has always been a big deal in my family. When I was in middle school, my cousins would come from Florida to spend the holidays with us in NY. I always woke up super early, from sheer Christmas-morning excitement, and they, being older teenagers, would try to sleep. Well, as the baby of the family, I couldn't let that happen - I would run into their rooms and wake them up early to open presents. Those Christmas memories have made December my favorite time of year.

This Christmas is a hard one, because my cousin is no longer here to celebrate. I'll always have those magical memories of years past, however, I'm saddened to know that we will not make new memories together in the future.

Last night, I was finishing my latest book, The Signature of All Things, and I came across a quote that soothed me. It said, "I believe that we are surrounded by a host of unseen friends and loved ones, now passed away, who exert an influence upon our lives and who never abandon us".
I hold this notion close to my heart.

Wherever my cousin is, I hope he knows I'm thinking of him always. Although he is not physically present at this Christmas, he is here with us in spirit.

Happy Christmas.

White with Zippers

Sunday, December 22, 2013

In anticipation of the Christmas holiday I treated myself to a sweater inspired by my muse Emma Watson.

While it doesn't look nearly as good on me as it does on her, I'm happy to be rocking the same style.

In other life updates, I've purchased a new computer! I'm so happy to be plugged in again to my blog and the internet. I decided to go with the MacBook Air because it's light and travel friendly

My new purchases are certainly a good start to this Holiday week.
