The Grass is Always Greener...

I feel like Kate Bosworth made Jewelmint with me in mind. Her jewelry is so stunning. These earrings were a snag from the site. Only 29.99! I haven't worn dangly earrings in so long but all of her designs make me want to change my ways. I honestly can't get enough of these. They're quite the stunners.

Highlights of my day include:

1) Eating homemade ice cream (or I guess we could say, "workmade" ice cream)
2) Checking up on a UPS tracking number only to be told that there is an, "Exception: Natural Disaster" (I actually laughed out loud when I first read that, and normally these things make me so stressed)
3) Eating delicious red bean paste croissants for breakfast
4) Having a delicious dinner with the BF at our favorite Korean restaurant

Casual Elegance

The top is a vintage find from Beacon's closet... quite the treasure.

Balenciaga bag, Vintage top, Rag and Bone jeans, Converse High tops, H&M cuffs

There are very rare times when days can go by without any highlights because something sad outweighs all the good. Everyone in my family means the world to me and even those loses that are more remote, still hit hard.

She will be missed, and always remembered.

I don't know where to start with this outfit. How about we work our way up? The shoes are from Intermix. I saw a similar pair on my girl Emma Watson and knew I had to have them. I spotted them on sale at an Intermix by my doctors office. Of course I couldn't get them out of my mind and proceeded to have a saleswoman, the following day, search for them. I snagged the last pair even remotely close to my size in the whole US! They shipped them all the way from Cali. It was a dream come true (the waterworks are starting, *tear)

The necklace was a buy from the J. Crew sample sale. I had been searching for the Fallon by J. Crew jewelry line and couldn't find it anywhere. Then as I'm perusing the racks at the overcrowded sample sale I saw this beauty in the jewelry case. Who am I to say no to a gorgeous statement necklace? When I got it home there was a little too much going on with the necklace so I took out a chain or two. Now it's just right (although still a little heavy... what can you do? Nothing's perfect).

Fallon for J. Crew necklace, Karen Walker sunglasses, Comptoir Des Cotonniers shirt, Forever 21 shorts, Belle by Siegerson sandals, Balenciaga bag

This pose I call, "If I ever were thrown a surprise party this is the face I would have" pose.

Highlights of my day include:

1) Finding out that Beyonce is pregnant (I actually screamed at work only to be told by my colleagues that I'm 24 hours too late, whatever I'm still excited... the King is born)
2) Going to see The Help with friends (it was a wonderful movie, definitely see it, especially if you've read the book)

So Irene came, and we're still alive. I don't want to underestimate other people's suffering from this hurricane but nothing happened here. By nothing I mean LITERALLY nothing. It lightly drizzled and was a little windy. We stayed locked in our apartment though, it was a nice excuse to not go out. We really couldn't go anywhere seeing as the whole city was on lock down. They closed all public transportation. I've never heard of that before. The subways were up and running during that horrific blizzard, I know because we went to see a movie the night it snowed a million feet.  The BF and I wanted to see a movie today and even the theaters were closed... INSANITY.

This skirt I got from the Barney's Warehouse sale last year. LOVES IT. Speaking of Barney's they have another sale going on now... I'll have to hit it up. The necklace is Dannijo. I couldn't like an accessory more. The little white stones remind me of teeth... strange, I know, but that's me!

Highlights of my weekend include:

1) Rearranging our apartment in an attempt to be farther away from our windows and then loving the new arrangement
2) Taping up the windows intensely only to fend off a rain storm
3) Drinking a delicious snickers shake from the Lite Choice (doesn't sound very lite to me)
4) Walking around trying to find the one place that would be open to have brunch, lo and behold the only place open was Subway (even Starbucks was closed)
5) Scouring the city for D batteries only to find that everyone and their mother had bought them
6) Filling up our bathtub with water (a day later we never lost electricity or water... clearly we were very prepared)
7) Buying the LAST gallon of water from Duane Reade only to be laughed at by the sales man (he actually followed us out of the store and asked us if we just snatched the last one... he then proceeded to laugh hysterically)

Come on Irene

Thursday, August 25, 2011

I'm mentally preparing for Irene. Today at dinner we discussed buying water and perhaps adding some food to our fridge. It would be good to be able to eat in case we can't go outside.

On a happier note, I bought this shirt from a store in Sag Harbor while I was out in the Hamptons one weekend. It's a tourist shirt but has a vintage vibe. I feel weird wearing it because I've been going to our house in the Hamptons since I was two, but I gotta represent the home town.

This skirt was SUCH a good buy from Forever 21. It's freaking gorgeous and it was cheap... score.

Adia Kibur necklace, J. Crew Denim vest, Hamptons t-shirt, J. Crew belt, Forever 21 skirt, Zara sandals, Proenza Schouler bag, Karen Walker sunglasses

This pose is called, "You can never get this, you can never get this" pose. For those of you who actually know what that's referencing it's my mini attempt to be funny.

Highlights of my day include:

1) Having my friend send me a scheduled movie get together on our calendar at work
2) Going out to dinner with friends
3) Walking back to the apartment with Ruth talking about the Hunger Games
4) Reveling in the fact that our apartment is not in an evacuation zone (I'd like to point out I was the one who wanted the apartment in this location, I'm like freaking physic)
5) Seeing my favorite commercial on television, "We're Talking Corner Furniture"(the BF and I used to actually rewind the television and dance to the commercial... that man is AWESOME)

Tough Chick

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

This is as close to punk rocker as I'm ever going to get... can this really even be considered punk? Whatever, it's all black. Not much to say about this outfit except last summer I wanted inexpensive leather shorts and I found them, there's really nothing I can't find muahaha.

Highlights of my day include:

1) Getting drinks with co-workers at 5pm to be called "sweetheart" by the waitress because I ordered two non-alcoholic shirley temples (I'm pretty sure she thought I was under 21, score)
2) Making new friends
3) Talking in Nordstroms Off the Rack until they began to lock the place up
4) Watching the best Challenge finale EVER
5) Eating fro-yo for dinner
6) Resisting the urge to purchase nail polish only to be told by the cashier that that nail polish sucked anyway (that's two days in a row Mama)!
