I'm In Love With A Sweater

Thursday, June 30, 2011

When people write love sonnets they're writing about this sweater. I saw it when I went to Miami months ago in an Intermix there. I was hesitant to buy it at first and passed it up while in Florida. When I got home I couldn't stop thinking about it. They were sold out at Intermixonline.com, so I went to the ever so trusty shopbop.com where I was able to order it with no shipping (yay, every shoppers dream). So happy it's now mine, the pattern just jumps out at you. It's such a unique piece.

Gar-De sweater, Equipment blouse, Current Elliott jeans, Converse sneakers, Proenza Schouler bag

Wearing my jail cuffs again, gotta love em'.

Highlights of my day include:

1) A free delicious salad
2) Hitting up the gym during lunch and watching Ina and Giada again (Score)
3) Sneaking in a little Teen Mom reunion as well and then feeling trashy and switching to Ina
4) Stalking any and every delivery man to see if he is my building's UPS guy (I was in desperate need of a package)
5) Realizing that sitting out on a stoop waiting for a random UPS man to come back to his truck for 20 mins was crazy

It's almost July 1st folks, which means we are one step closer to Harry Potter (yayyyyyy)

P.S. Does anyone know the proper way to spell Current Elliott? Is that the correct spelling?

I don't need to stress again how much I love my Superga shoes... I'll save you that repeat. However, I can't get enough of my cute pug shirt! I bought it at the Zara in South Beach several years ago... guess what? It was on sale playaaahhsss. The belt and shorts were also sale purchases from (I bet you you just can't guess where)... that's right peeps, J. Crew!

I'm really loving the mixture of prints I've got going on here. Go me.

Zara t-shirt, J. Crew belt, J. Crew shorts, Superga shoes, Proenza Schouler bag, Ray Ban sunglasses

This last pose is called the, "hey neighbors I'm the crazy girl who lives across the street" pose. Def. one of my faves and one I use often (clearly).

Several things happened to me today:

1) I watched a Marshals commercial being filmed and although I catwalked by everyone filming it I was not asked to participate (sigh, one day)
2) I worked out during my lunch break in the gorgeous gym at my job (woot woot)
3) I watched Ina and Giada while working out (love it)
4) Subway now carries avocado

That's right, you heard it hear first people, Subway now has avocado (for a limited time of course) and it is mucho delicioso. Yay! It was legit the highlight of my day.

This top has to be one of my favorites in my entire wardrobe. I bought it several summers ago after seeing it on some skinny girl in Soho. Of course, delusional as I was/am, I decided to buy it thinking it would look the same on me. In that momentary lapse of judgement I forgot I was not a stick. It's not the most flattering of items but I just adore it. The bright colors, the pattern... it just screams Gaby. I almost gave it away to my cousin but I just couldn't part with it. Unfortunately, I can't wear it alone, it tends to slide down, not how I think it's supposed to be worn. Instead, I finally found a way I could wear it.... layered! I'm wearing it over another favorite of mine, my J. Crew striped tee. Guess when I bought it? That's right folks... when the BF worked at J. Crew! I think he now regrets ever working there seeing as it spawned my obsession with the store.

J. Crew shirt, Ya-Ya top, Zara shorts, Aldo shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses, Proenza Schouler bag

You will not be able to guess what this last pose is called... ready for it? It's the "I'm angry at the BF pose". It gets used quite frequently actually... just kidding! It only comes out when the BF is frustrated about taking pics of me... I can't really blame him but I have a short temper which results in the face above. So damn attractive.

I really think this may be one of my favorite outfits I've posted on this blog so far. I'm in love with every item I'm wearing. I got the shorts from Zara and they were wayyyyy too long, so, I brought them to my trusty tailor and had them hemmed. Customizing clothes is always the way to go. I'm constantly at my dry cleaners giving them tasks to do. It can be pricey but totally worth it.

I'll leave you with those words of wisdom for the day. To shorten it for those who don't read the entire post (who can blame you really)... customization = pricey = golden. Makes so much sense right?

I hadn't been to Forever 21 in ages. The BF and I went shopping with his sister at Forever for her birthday and I snagged this awesome skirt. I know what you're all thinking after reading that, "wow you took her shopping and you bought something"? Don't worry peeps, she bought lots too!

Back to skirt talk... totally loving the floral pattern and the subtle hints of blue. Best part? It was 20 dollars. That's right, 20 freakin' dollars.

These ballin' cuffs are from H&M. I'm really into the two cuff, jail look. Totes stylin.

J. Crew boots, Forever 21 skirt, Joie t-shirt, Madewell jacket, J. Crew belt, Proenza Schouler bag, H&M cuffs

I really will not give up on the skirt-swirl pose. The BF thinks I'm a little strange, as I'm sure my neighbors do as well. Whatevs, these things happen. One day, I'll get it and everyone will think I'm a genius and then I'll be the one laughing... mauahaha.

P.S. Can we please acknowledge how close Harry Potter is? O.M.G. CAN'T wait!!

Have I blinded you yet? I'm like a ray of sunshine. I decided to attempt the monochromatic look. Not gonna lie, I'm definitely feeling it. This cashmere sweater was a gift from the BF when he worked at J. Crew, I absolutely love it. I'm a huge fan of the mustard color. I snagged the skirt from Zara. Zara's really been banging out some winners recently, I must say. Even though, they're more or less always on point.

Ray Ban sunglasses, Proenza Schouler bag, Zara skirt, J. Crew cashmere sweater, Sam Edelman sandals, House of Harlow necklace

The shoes are like four hundred years old. Sam Edelman still makes them but I feel all nostalgic when I look at these babies so I'm going to keep them even though they're falling apart. They're looking fine in these pictures though (and by fine I mean finnnnnnnnneeeee).

Honestly, I can't dress up every day peeps. This is my "we're going to the movies and I need expandable pants for popcorn" look. That's right, these are jeggings. I love these jeggings. They were 40 bucks from American Eagle... can't really beat that.

I'd like to address a mis-interpretation of the word "jegging". I understand that they are leggings that look like jeans BUT these are actually jeans, just with a lot of stretchy material in them. I swear, sometimes if I eat too much they become tight, where as leggings would expand. That's the scientific explanation for you right there.

I'm mildly obsessed with my Superga shoes. They're very comfortable and are quite cute to look at. I love how I'm jumping around the obvious here.... my new CAMBRIDGE SATCHEL BAG. There's a story to this baby, of course. Gotta look at the pitchas first to find out.

Wildfox t-shirt, Splendid waffle top, American Eagle jeggings, Cambridge Satchel Company bag, Superga shoes

This is the "I think I'm from the 60's and under the influence" pose. Definitely one of my best.

Alright, back to the bag. I ADORE this bag, not only because it's fluorescent but because it has my initials on it and it's just so cute. It was the usual package ordeal with me; no one was there at my apartment to sign for it, so I had to put the package on hold and trek over to FedEx to get it. Little did I know FedEx was located in the most random area of the Bronx. The BF and I take a cab there, it's literally in the MIDDLE of nowhere, with handmade signs leading to the office. Then you go into the building and it's like they have no idea that their location is so remote... they're acting all non-chalant and cool... hello FedEx people! It was a pain in the ass to get to your location AND I had to pay an exorbitant amount for the cab. Any ways enough with my rambling. The bag's amazing, definitely worth the money and the story. Totally lives up to everything everyone says about it.

I can't forget to give a little shout out to my Splendid top. If you don't have one of these waffle shirts definitely invest in one. They're so comfortable and they're great for layering. Around Christmas time I got a white and a black one, top notch purchase if I do say so myself.

I saw this skirt in J. Crew... it was a whopping $188.00. My solution? Wait until the skirt hit the sale section and then purchase it with their extra 30 percent off promotion. Lo and behold, the skirt was mine for a mere 40 something dollars. Ah, gotta love J. Crew. I absolutely love the mint color. It's so great. I'm also a huge fan of the fact that its lace-esque. Yay me! Success!!

Ray Ban sunglasses, Adia Kibur necklace, Wildfox shirt, J. Crew belt, J. Crew skirt, Proenza Schouler bag, Urban Outfitter shoes

I know what you're thinking (I'm like a freaking mind reader), "Aww why didn't she embarrass herself today"? Well people, in life, you can't be funny every day. It's an on and off type of thing. Sometimes I'm just tired and I need a break from all my incredible poses. Will I ever stop impersonating trees? Of course not! Do not fret, more embarrassing and never before seen poses, will be published soon.

I love the shadows and warm lighting in these photographs. Good photography work BF... I'm so proud!
